« Looking at a Jazz picture is like hearing music through your eyes»Photographers and Jazzmen have the night and darkness in common, they allow the music to be embodied, and the images to appear.

‘Pour ceux qui aiment le Jazz’,(For Those who Love Jazz) is a sale-exhibition   titled after of the famous Europe 1 Jazz show by Franck Tenot and Daniel Filipacchi.

The exhibition featured some twenty unpublished silver prints, from Kasparian's archives, covering the period 1960 to 1964.

In the sixties, Roger Kasparian, then a young photographer welcomed the famous American jazz names. He would accompany them during their time in Paris, from the airport to concerts. "Established photographers took jazzmen especially on stage, so I did the opposite ", tells us Roger Kasparian, who was trying to distinguish himself to sell his shots to magazines.
" I picked them up as soon as they arrived at the airport and I then followed them to hotels, restaurants and to the club concert. I was extremely discreet to go as far as possible in their intimacy, to capture them naturally. , without preparations or staging ".

And as always, seeking to take the best and most original photo in the world, this technician born in a photo studio often found the right angle of view and the best light.Rich of these treasures, Kasparian put his career as a reporter-photographer on hold but kept his incredible archives. They remain forgotten for over 30 years.Discover amongst others, Art Blakey, Donald Byrd, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Nina Simone...
